The Dramatic Takeover that Shocked Senators
The sudden change in the leadership of the House of Representatives was not a coup d’état. House Deputy Speaker Fredenil Castro said the majority vote of congressmen in favor of former-president-now-Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo replacing Pantaleon Alvarez would “override” any supposed irregularity in the process. Castro was responding to Alvarez reportedly raising questions about the validity of the takeover since the audio and the mace symbolizing the Speaker’s authority were absent during Arroyo’s oath-taking.
Looking Back on How Much Marcos and Arroyo Endured Injustices
Former First Lady and now Congresswoman Imelda Marcos cannot hide her dismay when she visited CGMA in her prison cell while serving a verdict that was never made. There was no conviction whatsoever until now. Nonetheless, she was a threat to the interests of the Aquino administration. Cong. Marcos thinks that the treatment of former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III to Arroyo was just cruel. It was clearly an injustice, she said.
Marcos-Arroyo Endurance Under the Aquinos

The Marcoses and Arroyo have suffered a lot under the two Aquino regimes. Their lives revolved around trials that are unending. Nothing can pin them down due to lack of substantial evidence and yet, the Aquinos showed no signs of mercy or respect in the due process. They used their media influence to destroy the reputation of both political names.
Bongbong Marcos was CGMA’s Birthday Guest Speaker
Bongbong Marcos swore during the birthday celebration of CGMA that he won’t stop working on his protest until all votes of his voters for Vice President are counted. He was also critical to VP Leni Robredo for being so unpatriotic. This was the time when she bad-mouthed the President’s war on drugs to the international audience during a UN side event.
CGMA Made the Du30-Marcos Stronger
As shown in the series of events, there’s no denying that CGMA’s takeover is vital to the Du30-Marcos alliance. There’s a Filipino anecdote that says; if you can’t do it through ethical means, do it quickly at the most possible method. Coup d’etat or not, the House’s leadership change is as fast as when the former Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno was ousted using SolGen Calida’s quo warranto petition. Is the VP post next?
