In the midst of the "pepedederalismo" controversy by President Communications Operation Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson, Senator Grace Poe took action and filed a resolution that calls for an inquiry into the government’s P90-million information drive on the country's proposed shift to federalism.

Federalism Campaign

While the soft spoken opposition senator admitted that there is indeed a need to inform our fellow countrymen about Federalism, its benefits and how it will affect the country’s economy as a whole, she questioned the alleged exorbitant budget being allocated for the information drive.

She was quoted as saying that she is perplexed on how the government came about with the P90 million fund and how it will be used for the information campaign.

Senate Inquiry Request

Being the chair of the Senate committee on public information, senator Poe filed a resolution to look into the alleged bloated budget for the Federalism information drive, stressing that her only aim is to guarantee that “accountability and transparency and implementing full disclosure of all transactions involving public interest.”

Honest Mistake Or Misinformation

In an interview with PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, he clarified that the proposed budget for the Federalism campaign is just P10 million, which is a far cry from the P90 million that Senator Grace Poe is circulating in media.

The secretary even lamented that the budget will not be enough and he will try to ask if it can be increased.

Was this a simple case of an honest mistake on Senator Grace Poe’s part or is she trying to misinform the public in the hope that they will be discouraged to support the Federalism campaign? Be the judge.
