This is to commemorate the death of Kian Delos Santos, who was allegedly a victim of EJK under the current administration.
Day Of Remembrance
In the proposed resolution no. 848, Hontiveros dubbed the said date as a “Day Of Remembrance”. She claimed that the public was outraged by the spate of killings during Pres. Duterte’s war on drugs and criminality.
She further explained that “By choosing to remember those who have been felled by the war on drugs, we state our clear rejection of this culture of impunity and brazen disregard for due process and human rights.”
Hontiveros added that we should never forget the victims of the war on drugs and that it is a grave mistake to just forget.
“To forget is to give consent. We have the duty to remember. Amid the deluge of fake news and the systemic attempt at data obfuscation and revisionism to cover up the thousands who have died under President Duterte’s brutal drug war, we must not allow Kian and all the EJK victims to be rendered nameless, invisible and forgotten,” she said.
Bordering On Lunacy
The resolution was met with jeers and disbelief. Most netizens think that it borders on lunacy. The administration may have committed some misdoings on their war on drugs, but they have lost many honest cops who died in the line of duty trying to uphold the law.
