Senator Antonio Trillanes, who was earlier issued a warrant of arrest by the Makati RTC, and was consequently arrested by the AFP after the session in the Senate, is now booked for rebellion by the Makati PNP.

Justice Served

Makati RTC branch 150 under the sala of Judge Leo Alameda earlier issued a warrant of arrest for Senator Antonio Trillanes. This is in connection with President Duterte’s proclamation 572, which voids and nullifies the amnesty given to the former rebel soldier.

Based on the merits of the case, the judge upheld the DOJ’s request for the warrant, citing that the nullification of the amnesty will also nullify the dismissal of the case against Trillanes last 2011. His rebellion case was dismissed owing to the fact that he was given amnesty.

Trillanes Presscon

Before his arrest, Trillanes, as what he always do, spoke to the media in a press briefing inside the Senate. He said that he is now ready to be arrested since he will post bail afterward. He told the media that democracy was defeated today. He also stressed that this setback is just temporary and that Duterte is clearly throwing his weight around to anyone who opposes him.

Mugshots

After Trillanes was arrested earlier for his rebellion case and the cancellation of his amnesty, he underwent booking procedures at the Makati PNP station, where he was fingerprinted, and mugshots were taken for police records.

Netizens React

There are mixed reactions from the netizens. Expectedly, the yellows are angry over his arrest and have commended Trillanes for his bravery on the issue. However, on the flipside, there are also many netizens who think that Trillanes deserved to be jailed for his crimes.
